Monitoring and warning for tsunamis generated by volcanoes webinar
Summary

The webinar will be held on two occassions to suit the convenience of participants from different time zones:

  • 16 April, 09:00-10:30 UTC
  • 23 April, 20:00-21:30 UTC

Representatives of the ICG Tsunami National Contacts, National Tsunami Warning Centres, National Tsunami Focal Points, Tsunami Service Providers, as well as representatives of Volcano Observatories, Volcanic Ash Advisory Centres (VAACs) are invited to attend. 

Notes

The webinar will:

  1. Brief on the report on Monitoring and warning for tsunamis generated by volcanoes (IOC/2024/TS/183) and its recommendations,
  2. Highlight the hazard and vulnerable Member States,
  3. Initiate the required partnerships between NTWCs and Volcano Observatories and VAACs,
  4. Initiate consideration of whether TSPs may also need to provide services where tsunami generated by volcanoes may impact several Member States;
