The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in association with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO/IOC) and the US National Weather Service/National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NWS/NOAA) organize a regional Tsunami Training Workshop at Accra Beach Hotel in Barbados from July 23-26, 2019. The training workshop is sponsored through the European Commission Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) with support from UNESCO/IOC and the United States Agency for International Development/Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) project initiatives. The technical workshop will target national-level operational staff from National Tsunami Warning Centres, Tsunami Warning Focal Points, National Disaster Management or other tsunami emergency response agencies and regional partner agencies. The format of this workshop will be similar to that of previous training workshops on the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center Enhanced Products and the forum will advance training and considerations to support the development of the Regional Tsunami Response Coordination Plan as well as the Model National Tsunami Warning Protocol and standard operating procedures. The objectives of the workshop are as follows: i. To train participants in the interpretation and implementation of the suite of enhanced operational tsunami forecast products; ii. To generate feedback for finalization of the Regional Tsunami Hazard Plan Annex to the Regional Coordination Plan (RCP); iii. To generate feedback for finalization of the Model National Tsunami Warning Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
