Activities
Dr. Arrieta’s research interests are the ecology of marine microbes with a wide perspective covering carbon utilization, ectoenzyme diversity, microbial community structure and their role in modulating global change impacts as well as their use as genetic resources. Before his current position and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC) in Tenerife. He worked as PhD student and postdoc at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ), as “Ramón y Cajal” researcher at the Spanish Research Council (IMEDEA-CSIC) and as Research Scientist at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia). Two of his major lines of research are the air-sea exchange of microbes and organic materials and the lability of dissolved organic carbon in the ocean.
