As a Masters student intern for the Southern Ocean Carbon & Climate Observatory (SOCCO), a division of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), my research topic is focused on understanding photo-physiological response of phytoplankton to changing light conditions in the Southern Ocean. In addition, we make use of existing bio-optical models and ocean colour satellite data to estimate ocean carbon in this region of the ocean.
