Activities
Since 2007 I
have been working on mapping environmental sensitivity to oil. A Reseach Group
was created within the scope of UNESPetro, UNESP (Center for Applied Natural
Sciences), entitled Oil Sensitivity Reseach Group, under the initial guidance
of Dr. João Carlos Carvalho Milanelli, then associate researcher at Unespetro
and who worked on Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo – CETESB,
from 1988 to 2012, on the north coast of São Paulo. The activities of this group, in which I had
direct participation, culminated in 7 master's degrees, 1 doctorate and more
than 20 undergraduate projects. At the end of this first stage, in 2014, we
produced an atlas of sensitivity to oil for the entire coast of São Paulo,
entitled Sensitivity of the Coast of São
Paulo to oil spills: an atlas on a detailed scale (available at
http://bibdig.biblioteca. unesp.br/handle/10/26089 ). Subsequently, from 2018
to 2023, I was the technical coordinator of a project entitled Geoprocessing and ESI maps of the Santos
Basin, with financing by Petrobras and within the context of the Santos Basin Regional Characterization
Project (PCR-BS). As part of this project, under my coordination, oil
sensitivity maps were produced for seven bays (Babitonga, Paranaguá, Santos,
Caraguatatuba, Ilha Grande, Sepetiba and Guanabara), within the Santos Maritime
Basin. At the end of 2023, we published two books, under my coordination,
demonstrating the team's activities on the topic. I am currently the
coordinator of LABSAO (ESI Maps Laboratory), at UNESPetro, which has 5
researchers and 4 undergraduate students, developing a new methodology for
mapping coastal sensitivity in the country.
Skills
During my years
of activity at UNESP I worked with remote sensing and GIS to analyze processes
related to the physical environment, such as mass movements and linear erosion.
I also worked on the use of geoprocessing techniques in the selection of areas
susceptible to the development of critical processes along pipelines, in
addition to mapping environmental sensitivity to oil along linear works such as
highways and pipelines and inland lentic ecosystems. With an important skill, I
would highlight my managerial capacity, which enabled me to coordinate several
works with large multidisciplinary teams.
