Prof. Mavume has been involved in multidisciplinary studies within the climate research and disaster risk programmes in collaboration with local and regional institutions (e.g Global Risk Identification Programme - GRIP, and United Nations Development programme - UNDP) as part National Risk Assessment Team Work and locally with National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC). He has been working in the recently completed INGC projects “Impact of climate Change on Disaster Risk in Mozambique” and “Responding to Climate Change in Mozambique”, in the field of Oceans and Coasts and is playing an important role in assessment of coastal hazards, formulation of strategies, policies and training programmes dealing with marine and coastal impacts, in view of ongoing and future climate change.
