Professor of
Geochemistry at the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment, National and
Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). She holds a degree in Geology from NKUA
(1992), and a PhD in Environmental Geochemistry from Imperial College London
(1997). She began her academic career as a postdoctoral research fellow at
Imperial College London and later served as a lecturer and curriculum
development coordinator in Africa (IRDP, Dodoma, Tanzania), before joining the
faculty of the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment at NKUA in 2003. Since
2020, she has been a Full Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Economic
Geology and Geochemistry at NKUA. In 2024, she was elected President of the
international Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SEGH). Her
research interests focus on applied and environmental geochemistry, with
particular emphasis on geochemical processes controlling the behavior of trace
elements in the near-surface environment.
