Aug 6, 2008- Nov 15, 2022:
Nature of Duties:
Worked
in the sustainable research and development activities related to numerical models:
·
Developed the wave forecasting system at INCOIS
using MIKE and WWIII
models. The numerical wave
model outputs from MIKE and WWIII delivers the wave forecasts regularly to
ocean state forecast users on daily basis.
·
Worked in the modelling activities like
grid generation, calibration and validation of the wave models with buoy and
satellite tracks, developed high resolution coastal models in the Indian Ocean
region
·
Developed high-resolution models for the
simulation of waves during monsoon and extreme events.
·
Developed user specific customized
forecast products for ports and harbor areas of India.
·
Developed the wave forecast services like
regional, coastal, island and location specific forecast in the Indian Ocean
region (https://incois.gov.in/portal/osf/osf.jsp)
·
Minimized the forecast error by
incorporating wave tide interaction in wave models and high-resolution forcing
winds (WRF) in order to enhance the wave forecast accuracy near the coastal
areas of India.
·
Developed
high resolution coastal wave models during extreme conditions like cyclones,
high wind waves and high swells events.
·
Worked
in the forecast generation and dissemination of high wave alerts and
warnings during extreme conditions using MIKE and WWIII models.
·
Played a key role in the development of the
impact based forecast system for the coastal areas of India.
·
Worked on the models of Delft 3D and X-
beach for the development of coastal erosion forecasting system.
·
In
detail research carried on simulation of cyclone generated wave fields by
multigrid wave watch with different forcing winds (HWRF, ECMWF, NCMRWF),
wave–tide interactions near the coastal areas of India, requirement of
high-resolution winds for the simulation of coastal waves, variations
of wave power potentials near the coastal areas of India, validation of wave
forecast system generated by multigrid wave watch in the Indian Ocean region,
impact of very severe cyclonic storm generated waves, error in the wave
forecast near the coastal areas of India.
Worked
in the ESSO- INCOIS consultancy projects:
·
Handled consultancy projects related to ocean and climate
science environment.
·
Implemented the numerical and statistical
models based on the stakeholder’s requirement.
·
Analyzed the different data sets i.e.,
model simulated, point observation and satellite measured data sets
for scientific applications and confirm the utilization of met ocean wave data under
the environmental policies.
·
Managed the project scheduled like design of the coastal structures,
analysis of met ocean wave parameters for design criteria and demarcation of
Inland vessel limits near the ports and harbor areas of India.
·
Predicted the extreme wave heights using
extreme value analysis during cyclonic conditions near the port areas of India.
·
Performed QC, data processing, visualization,
calibration, validation of the numerical models and
delivered the accurate wave data to stakeholders with in the stipulated
time.
·
Optimize the forecast product information
and translate the product utilization to stakeholder
understandable format.
·
Supported
the stakeholders in decision making process related to risk assessment of the
coastal structures.
·
Involved
in writing the project proposals, project repots and presenting deliverables to
stakeholders.
Given
hands on training to stakeholders related to forecast product development and
utilization
