Activities

I am privileged to serve as a Marine Conservation Field Officer in an organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of marine ecosystems. My experience in this role has been a journey filled with learning, exciting challenges and a deep sense of accomplishment in contributing to the health of the oceans.
Main Responsibilities and Achievements:
Education and Awareness: I organize workshops and educational activities for local communities and Community Fisheries Councils (CCP), aiming to raise awareness about the importance of marine conservation and establishment of LMMA (Locally Managed Marine Areas).
These interactions give me a gratifying sense of positively impacting the next generation of ocean advocates.
Multidisciplinary Collaborations: I work closely with Government Institutions linked to Fisheries, Scientists, Volunteers and local Partners (Stakeholder).
The ability to integrate knowledge from different areas is essential for carrying out complex and successful projects.
Impact and Personal Learning:
As a Marine Conservation Field Officer solidifies my passion for the marine environment and the urgent importance of its protections. Witnessing the direct effects of conservation work reinforces my belief that every action, no matter how small, contributes to a more sustainable future.

Skills and Qualifications:

Marine Knowledge: Solid understanding of marine ecosystems, including biodiversity, ocean dynamics, coastal systems and associated conservation challenges.

Technical Skills: Ability to use marine monitoring equipment and technologies, such as probes, GPS, underwater cameras and animal tracking systems, use of software such as: Matlab, GIS, GOOGLE MAP, Delft3D: SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore), LITPACK etc. .

Conducting Research: Experience in planning, conducting and analyzing marine research, including collecting biological, physical and chemical data from the marine environment.

Navigation and Orientation: Skill in maritime navigation, using nautical maps, compasses and GPS, as well as knowledge of diving techniques and water safety.

Communication and Environmental Education: Excellent communication skills to sensitize the community and stakeholders on the importance of marine conservation. Ability to give lectures, workshops and educational activities.

Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists, marine biologists, divers and volunteers.

Project Management: Ability to plan, organize and execute marine conservation projects, defining goals, schedules and necessary resources.

Problem Solving: Ability to identify challenges and implement practical and effective solutions in complex marine environments.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with marine conservation laws and regulations, as well as environmental protection policies.

Resilience: Ability to deal with adverse conditions such as climate change, unstable weather conditions and challenging environments.
