I am currently working as a marine applications expert, providing user support and training on ocean applications of satellite data, and managing feedback between user(s) and operational satellite agencies. My research background covers the use of optics to derive information about the oceans. I have worked throughout the satellite data value chain from the validation of satellite sensor measurements, to algorithm development and data use for various applications including harmful algal blooms, ocean heat flux, carbon pools, climate model validation and marine spatial planning. I am a keen and capable programmer, focusing exclusively on open source tools. I am a passionate science communicator and seek novel ways to use new media to share science with new users and the public.
