I'm a Phytoplankton taxonomist and marine ecologist with 19 years of experience. I joined the marine Institute, marine
Environment and Food Safety Services (MEFS) in Galway, Ireland in 2002.
Working in the Biotoxins-Chemistry unit and later in the Phytoplankton
unit as Scientific and technical Officer where I currently work.
I'm currently going on career break in 2021 and relocating to the Canary
Islands HAB observatory as a PhD student to study the biodiversity of
ciguatera causative species.
Currently working on the biodiversity and
distribution of Azadinium and Amphidoma species in NE Atlantic. Two new
species discovered from Irish waters and first records of two other
species. Looking at ribotype and toxin diversity within Az. spinosum.
Also, organising and coordinating the next round of the International
