Wave and sea ice research and method development for operational use based on 1) satellite measurements · sea ice (SAR) · waves (optical satellite images) 2) airborne measurements · Lidar, HEM · 3D sea ice topography and sea ice surface profiles; important for understanding the backscattering properties of sea ice 3) coastal radar images · strain rate calculations · locations where there is compression in ice fields 4) Photogrammetry · wave spectra calculation from image sequences or single image in-situ measurements e.g. from RV Aranda and buoys Special expertice in 1) data mining and refining into usable data formats 2) assimilation of in-situ measurements with remote sensing data 3) validation of operative SAR based products by using in-situ measuremnts from different sources and instruments
