Deploy, operate and maintain the MARVIN autonomous research vessel for water quality monitoring. Operate and manage the Harmful Algal Bloom nutrient chemistry program, laboratory and equipment. Conduct research cruises (Chief scientist) for the collection of nutrient and hydrographic data from the Florida's west coastal waters to further the understanding of oceanic and estuarine nutrient dynamics and harmful algal blooms. Analyze and interpret the data from both the MARVIN units and the field collections graphically and critically for use in reports, scientific papers and presentations, and to assist resource managers in decision-making. Supervise 4 fulltime staff and several volunteers and an intern. Managed reports and spending on two federal grants (NOAA and USACE), two state contracts and several report based deliverable purchase orders (USF). Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present scientific findings at local, state and international conferences, meetings and workshops.Responsible for the Harmful Algal Bloom database entry and management and conduct multivariate statistical analysis for a variety of monitoring programs in Florida and elsewhere. Assistant to the Editor of the Xth International Conference on Harmful Algae Proceedings.Conducts the regulatory review and processing of JCP and ERP applications (Chapter 373, sections 40 and 62-4/-b41/-b49/302/330/341/343; Chapter 161; Chapter 18-20, section 62, F.S.) and the co-processing of authorizations to use sovereign submerged lands (Chapters 253/258 F.S.) according to statutes, rules, and procedures. Adjunct faculty teaching biological and environmental science courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

I have assisted the editor for the Proceedings of the Xth International HAB conference – an international conference with over 850 attendees and nearly 600 pages of refereed papers. I have organized a statistics workshop with international attendees (30 attendees). I have organized a chemical safety and hazardous waste seminar for my section (25 attendees) and I have organized 9 computer classes for the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (~100 attendees). I have participated in a Walz Pulse Amplitude Modulated fluorometry workshop.Technical Skills: computer data entry and management (Word (intro and intermediate), Wordperfect, Quattro Pro, Excel (intro and intermediate), Powerpoint (intro and intermediate and multimedia), Publisher (intro), Access (intro and intermediate), CorelDraw, Surfer, SAS for Windows, CAST-NET and MERMAID metadata, Adobe Illustrator, PRIMER, Visual Basic, Seasoft/Seasave, Aquarius, Loggernet, Ecowatch, Nuview, SonUtils/ViewArgonaut), Latchet autoanalyzer, spectrophotometer, fluorometer, elemental analyzer, lyophelilzer, YSI/Hydrolab multiprobe, ISCO water sampler, Vaisala met station, Campbell Scientific datalogger, YSI nitrate analyzer, YSI phytoflash, WS Oceans nitrate/phosphate sensors, WS Oceans modified urea sensor, wetstar in situ fluorometer, CTD (underway system and rosette), nephelometer, Licor light meter, scanning electron and light microscopy; SCUBA (NAUI), Florida Safe Boating, First Aid (AHA) and CPR (AHA) certifications. Extensive field work experience including 45 Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic cruises (20 as chief scientist) on five different research vessels and countless day trips in Tampa Bay, the Caloosahatchee River and Florida Bay for over 3000 hours of working shiptime.
