He is a distinguished professor and Chair of the Oceanography Department and the Head of the Naval Ocean Analysis and Prediction (NOAP) Laboratory at the Naval Postgraduate School, a fellow of the American Meteorological Society, a Co-Chief Editor of the Journal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, American Meteorological Society (2009-2016), and the Chair of GTSPP.
