Dr. Rachida HOUSSA, Research Director at the National Institute for Fisheries Research (INRH), holds a Ph.D. in Geosciences – Spatial Remote Sensing from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg (France). She has worked at the INRH since 1998, where she has held several leadership positions, including Head of the Cartography-GIS Laboratory (2004–2011), Head of the Information Systems Center (2012–2018), Head of the Fisheries Department (2019–2020), Special Advisor to the Directorate (2021–2025), and Head of the Casablanca Regional Center of INRH (since July 2025).
With over 27 years of experience, she has led the development of numerous projects in mapping related to the marine environment, fisheries research, and integrated coastal zone management. As a GIS expert, she has also contributed to service delivery missions at the national and international levels, notably for the development of management plans for fisheries, aquaculture, and marine protected areas (MPAs).
Dr. HOUSSA works closely with numerous national, regional (Maghreb and West Africa), and international (Western Europe, Russia, Japan, FAO, etc.) teams active in various fields of marine research and management.
