| Summary | This document provides information and guidance regarding standardization of ocean instruments and methods of observation, including on (i) the establishment of Regional Marine Instrument Centres (RMIC) as proposed by the Pilot Project, (ii) mechanism for collecting platform/instrument metadata, (iii) the cooperation with the manufacturers and with the Association of Hydro-Meteorological Equipment Industry (HMEI). The document is also proposing a strategy for documenting ocean observation practices, including instruments and methods of observation as part of the WMO and IOC Technical Regulations. |
