INSTITUTIONAL RESUME

The Research Center for Environmental Management and Development - CIMAD is a non-profit organization established in 2003, based in Cali, Colombia, which is governed by the National Constitution, the laws of the Republic of Colombia, the rules on science and technology, and its Statutes.

MISSION

CIMAD is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting knowledge through scientific research for the social management of natural resources. It works with local communities, government, NGOs, and academic institutions to ensure the sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity. Supported by a multidisciplinary team, CIMAD focuses on priority areas for the sustainable development of Colombia’s biological and cultural diversity.

VISION

To be a recognized NGO for developing sustainable models of natural resource management that benefit communities in biodiversity conservation areas, supported by public and private partnerships, political strategies, and financial sustainability mechanisms.

GOAL

Promote research projects in biology, economics, politics, and society, while training human talent for the application and dissemination of scientific knowledge aimed at the sustainable management of Colombia's natural resources.

OBJECTIVES

1. Research: Promote projects for environmental management and sustainable use of natural resources to ensure their recovery and community-based conservation. 

2. Information Management: Produce, transfer, and share knowledge in natural, social, political, and economic sciences, along with alternative environmental technology. 

3. Environmental Sustainability: Advise national and international entities on sustainable resource management and biodiversity conservation. 

4. Institutional Strengthening: Provide training to enhance human talent and institutional capacity in scientific research for sustainable development.
