Activities
SARTI is a research group, formed by personnel from different departments of the UPC, the thematic scope of actions of which is situated in the scientific and technological development of equipment and systems for remote data acquisition and their treatment, emphasizing the instrumentation virtual and oceanographic, including simulation methods and statistical analysis and, making use of the cutting edge techniques in electronic design, transfers all this knowledge to the industry.
At the same time, his research focuses on the OBSEA, the underwater laboratory installed 4km from Vilanova beach and 20m deep that allows collecting information on various environmental parameters with which to study the effects of climate change. Having this infrastructure, the fact that it is one of the few wired observatories that exist and that therefore allows data to be obtained in real time, has led SARTI to be part of several European projects since 2014.
With the name Tecnoterra, it is an Associated Unit of the Jaume Almera Institute of Earth Sciences (ICTJA), the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM) and the Marine Technology Unit (UTM) of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC).
