Beginning of Civil Aviation in the State of Qatar
In the early 1950s, a runway was built in southern Qatar, another one in South of Umm Said (Mesaieed), and a third runway in East Doha for Commercial Air Transport.
As oil companies commenced oil-prospecting operations in the southern parts of the country, there emerged a need for air transport services to carry personnel and equipment; which represented the beginning of Civil Aviation Sector in the State of Qatar.
