EcoPeace Middle East is a unique Jordanian-Palestinian-Israeli organization that seeks to advance cooperative efforts to protect our shared environment, promote sustainable regional development and climate security, and create the conditions for lasting peace in our region. For close to three decades, EcoPeace has adopted top-down and bottom-up approaches and has exemplified that regional cooperation over shared environmental issues, in particular water issues. Ecopeace’s advocacy strategies foster engagement of local, regional, and international decision-makers, stakeholders, scientists, private sector and civil society actors, and have borne significant achievements.
Skills
Launched in 2021, the ShaRED Sea program was created by EcoPeace to train young professionals, youth, and teachers to reduce plastic waste in the Red Sea. Each cohort works on a national project in close partnership with the local authority (ASEZA, Eilat Municipality) to tackle challenges and transform them into opportunities. For example, our cohorts in Aqaba have led the way from plastic bags to paper and fabric bags in bakeries, grocery stores, and malls, whereas our cohorts in Eilat have focused on the transition from disposables to reusable dishes in beach restaurants.
- Young professionals : 3 cohorts ,total 52 participants
- Teachers: 2 cohorts total 38 (3rd cohort coming 8-9/7 with around 20 teachers)
- Youth: 3 cohorts, total 45 youth ( 2 youth for the sea 1 climate seminar)
- Reagional events in Aqaba: 5 reagional seminars of 3 days each
- Community events: over 20 events with over 2000 people
- Projects leat by our praticipents: over 50 actions took place
