Fisheries management and conservation genetics. Several research projects are grouped under this research theme whose main objective is to provide relevant information for the development and implementation of biologically relevant management strategies. The population genetic structure of marine fish (e.g. redfish-Sebastes), crustaceans (e.g. snow crab-Chionoecetes opilio), marine molluscs (giant scallop-Placopecten magellanicus; softshell clam, Mya arenaria and mammals (Phoca vitulina) are assessed using a large diversity of molecular tools. I am also interested in processes that influence dispersal in marine species that have incorporated a pelagic larval stage in their life cycle (seascape genetics).
