Activities
I have expertise in molecular taxonomy systematics and phylogenetics of marine organisms. During PhD, I have gained experience with molecular tools, and learned bioinformatics. Specifically, my work pertained to phytoplankton molecular taxonomy and phylogenetics. While working on these molecular-related samples collected from open oceans, such as the Bay of Bengal, the West Pacific Ocean, and coastal seas, such as the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea I reported numerous first records of phytoplankton. Also, by using phylogenetic analysis, I showed evolutionary significance within thecommunity lineages. Currently, as National Postdoc Fellow, I am working on the molecular taxonomy systematics and phylogenetics of the Protist community from the bay of Bengal, Equatorial Indian Ocean, and Central Indian Ocean, and downstream analysis will report on numerous first records of these protists genera accomplished using 18s rDNA metagenomic sequencing. I have demonstrated scientific writing ability through the publication of scientific articles in various SCI journals as a first author and co-author. Meanwhile, as a project participant in 2016 (NIO, Goa) and 2021 (NIO, Goa),I have contributed as a team member to various projects. I helped the project leader in 1-defining the goals and objectives of projects, assessing the scientific and research needs of the funding agency clients, 2- strategic plan outlining, timelines, budgetary requirements, and expected outcomes, 3- defining the scope, objectives, deliverables, and milestones for each project, 4- Regularly evaluate the outcomes and results of the R&D programs,5- Assessing whether the research projects have achieved their objectives and contributed to the broader goals of the funding agency clients. By following these steps, I have helped PLs to effectively plan and execute R&D programs within the scientificendeavor. I was a member of the following projects 1) Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction System, (2) Impact of Capital Dredging for Deepening of Approach Channelon the Marine Biodiversity and Biodiversity Management Plan, Zuari EstuaryMormugao (3) Impact of Dredging and dumping on the Marine Biodiversity and ecology of Mormugao Port Trust area, Zuari Estuary, Goa, (4) Marine Ecology and biodiversity Study in Mandovi, Zuari Rivers, Goa, (5) Maharashtra GeneBank (Marine),(6) Assessing and Mapping the Biodiversity of Angria Bank coral reef in the MarineEcosystem of Maharashtra, 7) Geo morphological studies and EIAEMP for the sand mining clusters of Rivers in Goa, (8) Identification and notification of Wetlands in Goa, and (9) Studies related to Integrated River Basin and Shoreline Management Plan forGoa. I have experience on board research vessels for the exploratory survey. I have been on board CRV Sagar Purvi for 30 days (Region- West Coast of India). I have been onboard RV Sindhu Sadhana for 30 days in the Central Indian Ocean Basin. During PhD, I have been on board the Chinese research vessel RV KeXue for 35 days in the WestPacific Ocean. Additionally, I was on-board fishing trawlers to carry out sampling in the coastal region of Maharashtra. Moreover, I have experience to be on small canoes used for sampling from estuaries to the upstream of rivers, and for SCUBA diving purposes in the coral reef region of Malvan, Maharashtra, and Grand Islands of Goa.
