Activities
During my professional training I acquired tools for the study of
microbial communities in aquatic environments, as well as their
relationship with the physical and chemical environment. My activities
include both observational and experimental studies at the level of
microbial plots and cover different scales of work. The results and conclusions of my research provide valuable and original information in the field of aquatic microbial ecology. Among
other aspects, the studies help to elucidate biogeographic patterns in
microorganisms, as well as the influence of local environmental factors
on the trophic structure of the protist community.
Skills
My activities include both observational and experimental studies at the level of microbial communities and cover different scales of work.
Regarding the approaches to study the different fractions of the
plankton, I applied different techniques, including both light
microscopy and epifluorescence studies, flow cytometry and molecular
techniques. I gained vast experience in laboratory work performing
chemical determinations and material processing, as well as in the
field during probing campaigns.
