Activities
I'm currently an Assistant Researcher in the BIOTOX laboratory at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.
I
have been developing scientific research for the last 16 years in
Applied Plant Biology (University of Lisbon). Besides a MSc in Plant
Stress Biology (University of Minho), I have a PhD in Biology focusing
on Physiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in photosynthetic
organisms. Besides being the PI of a project funded by FCT on the theme
of green roofs (MedMossRoofs), my training also includes participation
in several research projects, including ecological biomonitoring and
restoration, and, more recently, in the area of Ecotoxicology,
monitoring the effects of various contaminants and searching for
biomarkers in several marine organisms in the food chain.
I consider my professional strengths to be:
-
Extensive experience working/managing multidisciplinary and
international teams, understanding and accepting their personal ways of
expressing themselves, motivations and methods of achieving goals.
-
My research experience coupled with a range of other parallel activities
has provided a strong focus on achieving objectives, stress and time
management due to ambitious deadlines.
- I have good experience in Plant Biology, across several disciplines (Physiology, Biochemistry, Proteomics, Ecology).
-
Project management and development - As a scientific researcher, I
understand the importance of planning project activities. I am
experienced in dealing with information from disparate sources
(including literature reviews and varied documentation), designing
experiments and tests, and implementing and evaluating them.
-
High-quality technical advisory writing and communication - I have a
strong background in scientific writing, reviewing and communication. I
also understand the importance of accurately interpreting, managing and
communicating information.
Importantly, my professional background reflects my ability to learn quickly and adapt to different subjects/needs.
Regarding
my work-related personal characteristics, I am very organised,
competitive and persistent, love new challenges, have an interest and
ability to research, discover and develop innovative methodologies to
achieve the goals and I am fully committed to any work required.
