Comment(s)
While my Ph.D. research focused on near-inertial waves in the ocean, my
scientific interests gradually expanded through time to include the
interannual variability of the Mediterranean Sea and the role of the
exchanges with the Black Sea, small-scale processes and internal waves,
air-sea exchanges and physical-biological interactions. Most emphasis
has been given to the revelation of the insulating role of the Black Sea
Waters in the North Aegean Sea, as well as the analysis of the
turbulent diffusion acting in its deep sub-basins during stagnation
periods. Current activities include the application of Lagrangian
methodologies, the use of a coastal
HF radar in the long-term assessment of the Aegean-Black Sea exchanges, investigation of environmental impacts of shipping, development of a coastal observatory in the North Aegean Sea.
