Activities
I am working for the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water column Observatory (EMSO), which is a project that brings together 15 european marine observatories from various countries throughout Europe and collects their recorded data and makes them available for other researchers.
My responsabilities revolve around the data handling from all observatories together with my supervisors. We need to conduct quality control on the obtained data and provide them in standardized formatting (netCDF). Our own ERDDAP is evolving currently and we are at the early stages on bringing all the data together.
Sea regions of study
Mediterranean Sea - Western Basin
Mediterranean Sea - Eastern Basin
Black Sea
North Sea
North Atlantic Ocean
Ligurian Sea
Adriatic Sea
Ionian Sea
Skills
- I completed a M.Sc in 'Marine and Coastal Systems' during which I gathered extensive knowledge on physical oceanography, geology as well as biology.
-I am familiar with software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe as well as Matlab and currently undertaking a 40 h Python course, which will be completed soon.
- I am a Divemaster
- I am a fast-learner, as I am ambitious and always interested in engaging in new challenges
Comment(s)
There are many different approaches on data handling throughout different institutions, which makes it difficult for scientists to work with those data.
I strongly believe that the EMSO-ERIC program can offer great benefit by standardizing data from all over Europe and provide these to the scientific community.
Therefore I am convinced that I am a suitable candidate for this course.
Additionally, I am personally very interested in leaning programming languages and using these skills for data handling and managment for the marine environment.
