Subject Area
Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology
Activities
Research focus includes identifying indicators to measure the condition of marine ecosystems to inform national reporting and policy. It aims to test the response of various ecological indicators (including species and functional richness and diversity, and species traits) to cumulative impacts from multiple human pressures in the marine environment. Data collection uses remote imagery including baited remote underwater stereo-video systems to survey reef ecosystems. Ecological data and pressure data are mapped and used to determine the drivers of ecological change and to understand the impacts of human pressures on ecosystem structure and function
