My study site is situated on the Northern part of Malacca Strait, near shallow coastal waters around Penang Island. Monthly sampling is conducted if weather condition permitted. Physical and biological data is collected for water quality monitoring and phytoplankton community structure studies. Other than that, we also estimate in situ PAM fluorescence measurements where varibale fluorescence and rate of electron transport are measured to investigate photosynthetic activites of phytoplankton in study area. To compliment in situ studies, incubation experiment also is performed, looking at different temperature, light and nutrient effect on phytoplankton community structure. In order to go further in this study, we aim to implement numerical modelling studies for this area.
