Activities
Currently I am a La Caixa doctoral fellow at the University of Girona where I am doing my PhD under the supervision of the Doctor Emma Cebrian. I focus on the study of invasive algae species in the Mediterranean Sea combining an ecological and modeling approach to understand habitat invasibility and to predict the future distribution of these species under different climate change scenarios. These maps could then be used in the management of different areas and could be useful to develop prevention measures that might avoid algae invasions in new areas.
In the past I have worked studying the effects of marine protected areas, the colonization proccesses on newly setted artifical reefs and the distribution of some deep-water coral species in the Azores Islands.
Sea regions of study
Mediterranean Sea - Western Basin
Mediterranean Sea - Eastern Basin
Skills
I am a qualified 3-star CMAS diver and I have done more than 100 dives in different environments and under different conditions. Also, I have done some scientific diving courses and I have refined my diving skills by doing the GUE Fundamentals course.
I feel really comfortable working with R, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, I have some experience using ARCGIS, Ecopath with Ecosim, the Geospatial Modeling Environment, Distance, MARK, PERMANOVA, Surfer and PamGuard.
