Summary | The Project Coast-Map-IO of IOC/UNESCO has been sponsoring courses for the countries of the Indian Ocean Region on building expertise in the region. The training courses as per workplan item 6.1 : Advance training course on Bathymetric data acquisition, processing, management and Multibeam approved during the Coast-Map-IO kick off meeting in Bangkok, 24 – 26 October 2007 have been underway. The National Hydrographic School, Goa, India of the Indian Navy had earlier conducted a training course on Bathymetric data acquisition, processing, management with special emphasis on Multibeam Technology from 17 to 29 March 2008. Considering the positive outcomes of the said course a similar capsule was organized and conducted at the school from 06 to 18 Apr 09. A total of nine participants took part in the workshop whose details are placed Page 9. The course was aimed at providing working level knowledge on Multibeam systems and on Bathymetric data acquisition, processing and data management. |
